ACCESS TO WATER PROGRAMME (Handpumps Installation Programme)

Pakistan is on track to become a water-scarce country as it is already ranked 30th among the most water-scarce countries in the world. Clean drinking water is one of the most urgent and important problems of Pakistan which calls for immediate steps to solve it. Khkashan Development Organization (KDO) Pakistan is actively working to ensure supply of clean drinking water by installing hand pumps in barren lands, digging of water wells in remote areas of water scarcity, and ensuring water supply to homes in villages. Kehkashan Development Organization (KDO) makes every effort to meet the needs of water-scarce areas to realize its mission of Clean Water for all.

MEDICINE BANK PROJECT

The project aims to reach out to poor patients, especially slums, who cannot afford costly medicines. The drugs are produced with the help of donations and individual sponsors, who are encouraged to contribute medicines rather than cash.

COMMUNITY EMPOWERMENT PROGRAME

KDO participants share their knowledge of human rights and responsibilities to all interconnected groups and their social networks. Bridging gaps between youth groups, women and organizations delivering services regarding health/emotional health, counselling, micro-credit and legal aid by developing strong referral systems.

Kehkashand Development Organization (KDO) Food for All Programme

FOOD FOR ALL PROGRAMME PROGRAME

National nutrition survey 2018 showed that 36.9 percent of the population faces food insecurity. Primarily, this is due to limited economic access by the poorest and most vulnerable group of the population – particularly women – to an adequate and diverse diet. KDO aimed to provide food to deserving people at their door step.

GO-GREEN ( Tree Plantation Programme)

Adopting a Go-Green program can reduce greenhouse gas emissions and waste by Plantation of Trees. KDO is planting trees in different areas in order to see a Green Clean Pakistan.

Kehkashand Development Organization (KDO) COMBAT MALARIA Programme

COMBAT MALARIA PROGRAMME

Kehkashan Development Organization (KDO) has launched a massive campaign to combat with Malaria in remote areas through different ways. KDO's basic malaria control program combines five components: a public health surveillance system, curative services, preventive interventions, a program for community involvement, and a capacity to perform special studies as needed.

BASIC LITERACY PROGRAMME

The levels of literacy in Pakistan are disturbingly low. The total literacy rates of young people and adults in 1995 and 2005 were 65 per cent and 50 per cent respectively. In addition, there are also huge disparities in the levels of literacy between women and men. For example, between 1995 and 2004, the literacy rate for young males and females aged 15–24 years, was 77 per cent and 53 per cent, respectively. During the same period, the female adult (24 years and above) literacy rate was 35 per cent but was believed to be even lower among rural-based women and women from ethnic minorities. kehkashan Development Organization (KDO) piloted a basic literacy project and following are the objectives of the project: Development of an evidence based understanding of the literacy needs of Communities. Improved literacy and legal awareness/consciousness detainees in selected facility. Ensured sustainability of the literacy program.

YOUTH HELP LINE

KDO believes in improving the conditions of the youth particularly young women, and minorities/marginalized communities in order to ensure their equal and active participation in all spheres of life without any bias of gender, religion, status, or language for the creation of a healthy, just, peaceful, and democratic society”.

Kehkashand Development Organization (KDO) HUNARMAND (SKILL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME FOR WOMEN)

HUNARMAND (SKILL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME FOR WOMEN)

Most deserving poor youth & young women are being selected by KDO to start income generation and entrepreneur skills in YOUNG WOMEN residing in slum areas and belongs to poor families through Skill & Entrepreneur trainings. Many women have been given sewing machines for income generation, many were provided entrepreneur skills and further with sewing & embroidery skill as per their need has been provided to them. In additional women are being trained to start their personnel business for income generation purposes.

AAGAHI (AWARENESS PROGRAMME ABOUT EMOTIONAL HEALTH ISSUES)

According to the Pakistan Medical Association, 44% of the Pakistani population suffers from depression. This is in stark comparison to the 20% of the global population which suffers from the disease. The Pakistan Medical Association also revealed that people settled in urban centers are prone to have more depressive episodes as compared to their rural counterparts. The main objective of this program is to highlight how mental health awareness is vastly underplayed by a majority of the population, and therein lays the fundamental problem in many low and middle-income countries. KDO aimed to raise awareness about the mental health continuum, reduce stigma associated with mental illness, promote help seeking behaviors and emotional well-being practices.
